The Softer side of War

I received the top photo in my email today, with this message 12/8/03

DO NOT DELETE-PLS PASS ON-Message from Iraq

The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute To our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is  By taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen. I was wondering if there was any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that "WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN" and are proud to serve our country."  Semper Fi ...... 1stSgt Dave Jobe

All of these photos were sent to me via email, in the usual mass emailing that people often get, some have the photographer credited to them underneath, others, I don't know who took these photos, If you took them and would like credit or wish to have them deleted please email me. Access to my email is available on the home page.
I have posted them because I think it features a side of the servicemen that we don't often get to see, but in our hearts we know exist. I think they are beautiful and beautifully taken, Kudos to the photographers, and their magical eyes, for capturing these heart warming moments.
Note*: I have had to replace a photo or two here because of copyright issues and some places charge a licensing fee to allow their photos to be posted even on non-commercial web sites, the fee ($150) is a bit steep for me, so, I have found some free to use military photos on a website called geekphilosopher.com, see the link posted on links page and on the freedom isnt' free page also, geekphilosopher.com has various types of photos for use as well as other links, check them out.  Thank you geekphilospher.com
